Four bands of resume templates, and what separates them

Price here follows two things. Whether a writer produced the document against a real brief, and whether the file survives a parser. Design quality is not the variable, and it is not what the money buys.

The only band measured at 100%

Every word sits in a real Word paragraph, so a parser reads the file end to end. Each one ships with a matching cover letter.

The 24 free resume templates, listed by name

Every free template is an editable Microsoft Word file (.docx) with placeholder text to type over, and any two can be downloaded per browser with no account and no card. All 24 are built for a human reader: their text sits in layout boxes, which scores 0% on the parse test, so when software reads the file first use the ATS-verified range instead.

Written by people

AI can write your resume. But will a recruiter want to read it?

A recruiter shortlisting for one role reads a few hundred applications a week. The ones that blur together share a tell: the same three openers, the same inflated verbs, achievements phrased so broadly they could belong to anyone who has held the job title. Nothing in them is wrong. Nothing in them is yours either.

The risk is not that a system rejects the file. It is that a person reads four lines, recognises the pattern, and moves on to the next one.

Generated, then sent as it came
  • Openers a shortlister has already read forty times this week
  • Verbs pitched above what the role actually involved
  • Achievements with no number anyone could check
  • A skills list that mirrors the advert rather than the person
Written with you, by a recruiter
  • Your real scope, in the words your industry actually uses
  • Numbers you can stand behind when they ask about them in the room
  • Text a parser reads end to end, measured rather than assumed
  • Read by a recruitment professional before it reaches an employer
100% ATS-friendly Structured for applicant tracking software. Our ATS range measured 100% text flow, and nothing here carries the label below 93%.
100% Human-written Written and reviewed by certified recruitment professionals who hire for these roles, not generated and passed along.

Structured so the software can read it. Written so a person wants to. Send the version that sounds like you and makes the case only you can make.

Finished work

Nine CVs, every page open to read.

Written for senior people in construction, finance, engineering, safety and HR, cover pages included. A cropped sample paragraph proves nothing about writing quality, so the whole document is here instead.

Names and contact details are invented. Structure, sequencing and language are exactly as delivered.

This standard, built around your own record

Every CV above started as a brief and an interview. The same writers do the same work with your history, the role you are aiming at, and the market reading it.

Two of a kind

Two designs that borrow a shape you already know

Most CV designs decorate. These two take a format the reader recognises on sight, then spend that half second of recognition before anyone has read a word.

In the download

What actually lands in your downloads folder

Every purchase and every free download is the editable source document.

The .docx itself

Not a PDF of a template, and not an image. Fonts, colours, spacing and the order of sections are all yours to move. Word renders it as drawn; Pages and Google Docs will shift a few things.

Both page sizes

Suites include A4 and US Letter as separate files, already laid out. Nobody has to rescale a page and discover the margins moved the week they were applying.

The cover letter, on 36 of them

Drawn in the same design as the resume, so the pair arrives looking like one application. A card claims a cover letter only when that file is really in the zip. If you would rather have the letter written to the posting, the cover letter service does that.

Zoom in before paying

Open any template full screen and magnify until the body text is legible. Cover letters sit behind their own preview tab.

After you download

Four things to change before you send it

The layout arrives finished. These are the parts people miss, and the ones that cost interviews.

All of the placeholder text

Including the parts you will not scroll to. Second-page headers and footers are where sample names survive longest, and a recruiter opening page two is exactly the reader you did not want to lose.

The file name

Recruiters see it in the attachment list. Ahmed-Khan-Operations-Manager.docx reads better than resume-final-v3.docx, and some systems pull the file name straight into the candidate record.

The section order

Lead with whatever the posting asks for. A summary on top earns its space for a career changer. For anyone with a straight run of relevant jobs it just delays the evidence.

How you export

Send the .docx unless the posting names a format. If it asks for PDF, export from Word rather than printing to PDF, which on some setups flattens your text into an image no parser can read at all.

Straight answers

What people ask before they pick one

Often, though not from a detector. What gives it away is sameness: the same opening line, the same short list of verbs, and achievements written so broadly they would fit anyone holding that job title. A resume can be AI-assisted and still read as yours, as long as the specifics in it are real. The ones that get skipped are the ones sent exactly as they were generated.

As a starting point, it is fine. As the finished article it tends to cost you the thing that actually earns interviews, which is detail only you can supply: how big the team was, what budget you held, what the number was before you arrived and after. Our writers build the document from those specifics, then structure the file so applicant tracking software can read all of it.

The share of a document's words that sit in ordinary Word paragraphs rather than inside floating text boxes. Parsers read paragraphs reliably and skip floating boxes often, so the percentage is a fair proxy for how much of your CV a hiring system will actually ingest. Every product in this library carries its own score. The ATS band measured 100%, the decorative designs measured 0%.

One whose text a machine can read end to end. In practice that means real paragraphs, standard headings, no important wording trapped in a graphic or a text box, and no content that only exists in a header or footer. Here it also means a measured number rather than a claim: nothing carries the ATS label without a parse score of 93% or higher.

Because the thing that makes them look good is the thing parsers cannot follow. Sidebars, colour panels and precisely placed headings are built with floating text boxes, and a box is invisible to most parsers. That is a fair trade when a person opens the file. It is a bad trade when software opens it first, so we publish the number instead of hiding it.

Reverse chronological, with conventional section headings like Experience and Education, dates in a consistent format, and no important information living in a header, footer, table or image. Keep the wording in the body of the document where the parser is looking.

Send the .docx unless the posting names a format, because it is the format parsers handle most predictably. If PDF is requested, export it from Word rather than printing to PDF. Printing can flatten the page into an image, which drops your parse score to zero no matter which template you started from.

In the UAE, the wider GCC and most of Europe the two words mean the same document and employers use them interchangeably. In the United States and Canada a resume is the one to two page summary and a CV is the longer academic record with publications. Everything in this library works for both uses outside North America.

No, and most cannot tell. What gets noticed is a layout that fights the reader: three columns of dense text, a photo where the region does not expect one, or a first page that buries the relevant job below a skills grid. Pick something quiet and spend the effort on the wording.

Yes, with a caveat. Both open .docx files and both re-flow some layouts, so spacing and column positions can shift, most noticeably in the designer templates. Microsoft Word renders them as intended. If Google Docs is your only editor, the Simple and ATS ranges survive the trip best.

Any two templates marked Free download immediately, with no account and no card. The count is kept in your own browser, so clearing site data or switching device resets it. There is no trial that turns into a charge.

24 of the 114. The Simple range holds the twelve Clean templates, plain single-column pages suited to first roles and graduate applications. The Modern range holds twelve designs with a colour band or accent for mid-career applicants. Each is an editable Microsoft Word file, and any two can be downloaded per browser with no account and no card.

They are built for a human reader. Their text sits in layout boxes rather than ordinary paragraphs, which measured 0% on our parse test, so a hiring system that reads the file before a person does may skip most of it. If the application goes through applicant tracking software, use one of the eight ATS-verified suites, which measured 100%, or have the document written.

The editable .docx itself. Suites ship in A4 and US Letter, and the 36 products marked as a pair include a cover letter built in the same design. A card only claims a cover letter when the file is genuinely in the download.

Yes. These are ordinary Word documents, not locked files or images, so colours, fonts, spacing and section order are all yours to change. One warning: if you move text out of a paragraph and into a text box while editing, you will lower the parse score the template shipped with.

The writing is real and the structure is exactly as delivered to the client. Names, contact details and employer names are invented, because the originals belong to the people who commissioned them. That is also why every page is readable here rather than blurred.

Use them for your own applications and for clients whose CVs you write. Reselling, redistributing or republishing the template files themselves is not permitted.

When the layout is not the problem

If the writing is what is holding it back

A template settles the layout. It cannot decide which six of your fourteen responsibilities matter to the role you actually want, or how to say them in the language that market uses. That part our writers do with you, and the same decisions carry straight across to your LinkedIn profile, which is usually the next thing a recruiter opens. When the applications themselves are the bottleneck, AutoPilot applies for you daily.
